Melee

The Melee skill governs attacks with weapons. Melee abilities consist of stances, attacks, defenses, feats and augments enable and enhance combat with weapons.

Stances

SwordNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a sword. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Jab, Lunge, Slash, Parry. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
AxeNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a axe. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Slash, Hack, or Cleave. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
MaceNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a mace or hammer. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Slash, Hack, Bash. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
SpearNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a spear. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Jab, Lunge, Set. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
BladeNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a short blade. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Jab, Slash, Parry. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
StaffNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a quarterstaff. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Jab, Bash, Parry. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
FistNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield blunt natural weapons. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Jab, Parry. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
ClawNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield slashing natural weapons. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Slash, Cleave. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.
ToothNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield piercing natural weapons. When you purchase this stance you also gain the Bite maneuver.
ShieldNo prerequisite – Use this stance to wield a shield. When you purchase this stance you also gain one of the following maneuvers: Bash, Guard. If you already have all of those maneuvers, you gain an augment of your choice that you meet the prerequisites for.

Attacks

Strike – This is the most basic melee attack.
Jab 1Sword, Spear, Staff, Blade or Fist – This is a quick attack to a creature adjacent to you.
LungeSword or Spear – This is an attack at reach against a target.
SlashSword, Axe, Mace, Blade or Claw – This is a simple attack that frequently carries strong effects.
HackAxe, Mace – This attack reigns supreme for doing raw damage.
CleaveAxe, Claw – This is an assault on two adjacent targets.
BashMace, Staff, Shield – This is a fast attack that tends to knock an opponent down or move them around the battle field.
BiteTooth – This is simply an attack with teeth.

Defenses

GuardShield – This is a combination of blocking and absorbing attacks.
SetSpear stance – This defense makes it painful for targets to move close to you.
ParrySword, Staff, Blade or Fist – This defense is a combination of blocking and dodging.
